New feminising and masculinising services awarded to Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust

New services have been awarded to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to provide feminising genital surgery and masculinising chest surgery services. It is anticipated that these new services will commence in April.

To enable the expansion of services offered at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, two additional experienced gender dysphoria surgery consultants have been appointed: Miss Tina Rashid who will lead on feminising genital surgery, and Miss Victoria Rose who will lead on masculinising chest surgery, with both surgeons contributing to the commencement of masculinising genital surgery (phalloplasty).

Patients affected by the recent closure of the feminising genital surgery service at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be contacted to offer a transfer to Chelsea and Westminster or another suitable surgical service. Patients will be transferred in order with regard to referral date. Chelsea and Westminster will not initially take direct referrals from gender dysphoria services, but take transfers from other surgical services’ waiting lists, to ensure that patients are offered treatment in order of referral date.

Patients waiting for these services do not need to take any action until contacted, but in the meanwhile, if you have any questions, please direct these to NHS Gender Dysphoria National Referral Support Service at agem.gdnrss@nhs.net  or call 01522 857799.
